A Donor Initiative
In 1999, when the Foundation didn’t have discretionary money to award, the board of directors created the Circle of Giving.
By asking friends and family members for just $1,000 each, the board was collectively able to raise an impressive $11,000. Together, donors then decided how to grant the funds back to the community. Since then, the Circle of Giving has awarded over $600,000 to local nonprofits to help provide for basic needs, education, the arts, and more.
The Renton Regional Community Foundation does not accept applications for Circle of Giving grants. Instead, we simply ask donors to recommend an organization with which they are familiar. Grants typically range between $500 and $4,000 and are most often used for operations costs.
The Circle of Giving initiative is a wonderful way to help the Renton Regional Community Foundation support the infrastructure of nonprofits critical to our community.
